WWJD?

You know what really drives me crazy.....buying Christmas presents for my husband! Every year I am so proud of my purchases only to see a slight glimmer of disappointment on his face when he opens them. Like the year I bought him a nose hair trimmer. Okay, I get it, even though he said he wanted one, it's not an appropriate gift. It's more of a "Look what I picked up while I was out today" kinda present. I didn't realize that until it was too late.

For his birthday I got him some hunting stuff. I scored BIG points with the knife I bought him and then a few less points with the clothes. He says to me pretty regularly "How do you not know what I like yet?" And it's not that I don't know, I am just retarded. For real.

So this year I ask my brother "Has Josh mentioned to you at all what he would like for Christmas" and I got the exact answer I expected. "No." So I try to trick Josh into telling me because every year when I ask him what he wants for Christmas he says "Nothing" and I KNOW that does NOT mean NOTHING! Besides, like I'm just NOT going to get him anything. So anyway, back to the trick. I send him a text and say "What kind of physical items would you like in life?" and this is the response I get "A beautiful baby girl! A nice home that's clean and not rundown! A nice 4x4 and a 4 wheeler! A boat! A big yard!"

WTF?

So the response was very sweet and it really touched my heart (especially the part about the baby girl) but it was absolutely NO help. I can give him the baby, but not for Christmas and the rest.....well that's going to be a while too. So here I am, back at square one. Help!

  1. Ha,ha. That would drive me CRAZY... actually, wait... it DOES drive my crazy because my husband is the exact same way! He likes movies... but any movie he wants, he buys the second it comes out on DVD. He likes the Joker (yeah- seriously) but he has so much Batman paraphernalia it is slightly ridiculous. He likes to write.. but I have already gotten him a lifetime supply of pens and notebooks and it isn't like I can GIVE HIM THE WORDS.

    I am totally screwed.

  2. Yyyyyeeeaah. My hubby is the exact same way. I am not a very good gift-giver. My hubby usually makes a wish list and puts it online for me to pick and choose from. It makes me feel like I'm copping out, but they are things he wants so I guess that's ok.

The nose hair trimmer thing cracked me up though, because the ONE TIME I tried to "think outside the box" and get my husband something unique that he didn't ask for it was a TOTAL FAIL. He had mentioned once while we were dating how much he LOVED getting a hot shave at the barbershop (he shaves his head). So I found this thing at Bed Bath and Beyond that you stick a can of shaving cream in and it heats it for you and comes out as foam. I thought it was awesome and when he opened it.... total "this present sucks but i'm making my best 'I love it!' face to save her feelings". DEFINITE gift fail!!!
