THRUSH

Hunter loves to blow raspberries. And when I say "love" I mean she cannot possibly go 2 minutes without doing it. And I'm not exaggerating. So when she started to get a little milky colored spot on the corner of her lip, I thought it was from blowing raspberries all the time. But then 2 days later, it had spread across her bottom lip and around her top lip. I tried to pry peek inside her mouth but I was only met with more raspberries and lots of baby spit on my face. My mom said:

"It looks like THRUSH"

and I said:

"What do you mean? What's thrush? How do YOU know? Is it bad? Is it serious?"

So I called the doctor and made an appointment for that day.

We arrived at the Pediatrician's office and had to see the P.A, instead of Hunter's regular doctor. After leaving, I decided that P.A no longer stands for Physician's Assistant, but Poor Assessment. Ugghhh at least that office has ONE good doctor. She wouldn't listen to anything I would say, just talking over me and answering me before I even finished talking. She said the thrush was caused from Hunter sleeping with a pacifier. But Hunter only falls asleep with a pacifier and then spits it out. I personally think she got it from daycare, you know, with all the kiddies passing around their little germies but who am I? Not a doctor.

Anyway, the medicine she gave me has directions on it that say "gargle, swish around the mouth and swallow". Seriously? How am I supposed to get my 7 month old to gargle? So I apply the medicine with a Q-tip and rub it on the inside of her mouth and on her lips. She actually loves it too which is weird, but maybe it tastes good. It doesn't smell like it tastes good.

Anyone else ever experience thrush with your babies?

PS-I JUST now realized there is a spell check on this site. HEAVEN!
